Q. How much experience do you have?
A. I started doing DJ work at my High School radio station, WMTH, as well as doing the school dances. I moved on to mobile work and used records and tapes for many years, moving to CD's and eventually to all digital. I have been doing mobile DJ work in Chicago and Denver for over 23 years, including nightclubs and radio stations such as WMTH, WCBR, KBPI, Y108, and more! We have over 15 years of specialty experience working with kids of all ages, and we have security clearance through the Colorado
Department of Education, with extensive background and security checks.
Q. How much input should I have in selecting the music for my event?
A. A DJ should take into consideration the styles of music your prefer. I balance your requests with selections that please your guests.
Q. Can I give the DJ a complete list of songs I would like played?
A. Yes, but this is not recommended. A good DJ will 'read the audience' and requires flexibility in the overall selections. Limit your requests to only those specials songs you must have and trust your DJ to perform his duties.
Q. Do you have ethnic music and honor special traditions?
A. Yes, We carry a wide variety of ethnic music. Please contact us to review your specific needs.
Q.What geographical area do you usually cover?
A.I play events in the Denver Metro Area, but mostly work in the North East Denver area.
Q.What time will you arrive for my event?
A. Team Tidalwave usually arrives 1.5 - 2 hours before the event. This allows time for unloading, setup, sound check, and lighting check.
Q. Do you play requests?
A. Yes, I accept requests from you and from your guests. It's your party, you should hear what you want and what is right for your guests. I have music hits from the 30's, 40's 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, country, christian and most current hits, including Top-40, R & B, Hip Hop, and others.
Q.What happens if you don't have my song?
A. If I don't have your song, I'll get it before the date of your event. You can email me your song request to djtidalwave@comcast.net, or call me at one of the numbers provided. Please do so at least 2 weeks prior to the event. You can also bring me one of your own CD's as well. In over 23 years of experience, I have only had one song I could not get.
Q.Is your music library large enough to handle my requests?
A. Some DJ's boast about having tens of thousands of songs. Remember, you can only squeeze 10-15 current songs or 20-25 oldies into a one hour period. I have a substantial music library for your requests, but I also believe in quality (having the RIGHT songs).
Q. Do you offer overtime?
A. Yes, I work overtime, and unlike many other DJ's, I do it at the same rate as the regular rate in one hour blocks of
time. I do not 'overcharge' for overtime.
Q. Do you do 'Theme' Parties and Events?
A. Yes, I do! From a Sock-Hop to a retro 80's party, it's all fun with DJ TidalWave!
Q. Do you have party accessories?
A. I sure do! I have glow bracelets, LED flashing body lights, flashing LED mouth lights. I also carry an assortment of other
LED products and accessories.
Q. Do you have lights, or just music?
A. I have a lighting truss system over 10 feet wide, and includes laser lights (red & green) fog machines, strobes, moon flowers, black lights, mirror ball, spot lights, and much more to add excitement! There is NEVER an extra charge for the lighting package!
